Moral Values?

from - Buck

Frank Rich absolutely nailed it Sunday with his piece in The New York Times. This should be a must read for all of those red-state voters out there.

Buck,
'Blue voters' do not understand 'red voters' or even what is even meant by the term 'moral values'. If John Kerry had understood, he would not have campaigned as he did. It seems to go completely over the heads of many, possibly most, red voters. One tiny part of moral values is simply the value of being who you say you are and having your word mean something. It is NOT trying to 'become' what you think the voting public want you to become just long enough to capture a vote. John Kerry did not get it. He really didn't and most democrats still do not. Frank Rich does not get it. I do not think that the majority of the high ranking democrats undersood this election. I do not think they understand, even today, what moral values Middle American and the heartland states are concerned with. They are looking for answers and are not asking the right questions. Many young democrats and young college students are confused by the election.

Yeah, but did you read the article Jan? My favorite paragraph was the last one

According to this argument, the values voters the Democrats must pander to are people like Cary and Tara Leslie, archetypal Ohio evangelical "Bush votes come to life" apotheosized by The Washington Post right after Election Day. The Leslies swear by "moral absolutes," support a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage and mostly watch Fox News. Mr. Leslie has also watched his income drop from $55,000 to $35,000 since 2001, forcing himself, his wife and his three young children into the ranks of what he calls the "working poor." Maybe by 2008 some Democrat will figure out how to persuade him that it might be a higher moral value to worry about the future of his own family than some gay family he hasn't even met.

Cary and Tara have been hoodwinked already and don't even know it.

As I have said on this board before, if the last election had been a football game the Democrats lost by a field goal on the last play of the game. Why should they re-think their entire philosophy when they came within a whisker of taking home the trophy?
