Weekend Activism Redux
from - smijer
Although the weekend was hectic, and I had to work Saturday and miss church Sunday, I was able to get out to two very important events, as promised, and was lucky enough to hook up with the author of 10,000 Monkeys and a Camera on both occasions. For those who could only be there in spirit, I'll share what little my very inferior camera picked up.
The Food Not Bombs table:
Peace is a Family Value:
Some of the crowd:
A blurry view of the vigil - to honor the dead and maimed:
Somewhat more clear:
Then, to the Strides of March, fundraiser for Chattanooga Cares, our local AIDS education, prevention, and support organization.
On the Walnut Street Bridge:

Further along on the route:

And, a proud poppa asked us to include his young son...

Welcome to the beginning of the week.

Thanks for putting up the pics. I hope we can stride next year, but more importantly, that there is no war to demand an end to.

There are those that would say that there is no war now. It is over. We won. It was a glorious success. But if you believe that what we have now is a war then I can guarantee you that we will have what we have a year from now. Our troops aren't going anywhere (unless into Syria and Iran)
It does my heart good to see anti-war demonstrations but it is only howling at the moon. The current administration views what is happening in the middle east as a glowing success. Why would they stop? Only a draft will create the kind of protests that are necessary to stop this nonsense and in my opinion that is why a draft has not yet been proposed.
Maybe one is on the way.
