A great season
from - Buck
It was a fantastic college football bowl season this year.
Three of the four BCS Championship match-ups were decided by 3 points and one of those games went to three overtimes.
After watching the Penn State versus Florida State thriller I would have never believed that the championship game could have been just as exciting but it was.
Congratulations to Texas. Vince Young is an amazing football player.
I was a little bit disappointed when the Trojan quarterback Matt Leinart
said after the game that he still felt that USC had the better team and that Texas just made the plays they needed to make to win the game.
Hell Matt. Playing the game is how you determine who has the better team. Look at the scoreboard.
He should have just said, “they were better than we were tonight”.
Professional football will help me a little bit with the inevitable annual withdrawal symptoms but there will still be times during the baseball and basketball season that I will be desperate for my high school and college level football fix.
All I can do is hang on.

USC has to be some of the most arrogant college athletes around.
But it was still a helluva' game. Vince Young was simply amazing.
The NFL will definitely keep me going for another month (Go BEARS!!!!!), but February is one hard month for sports. I always look forward to spring training in March, but what is there to watch in February?

Professionally all I have is the Falcons and they have not had back to back winning seasons in their history. It is just hard for me to get excited about the Falcons. I couldn't even get excited when they went to the Super Bowl so it is not as if I am only a fair weather fan. I can't will myself to be a fan even when they are winning.
In fact the only time I have ever been rabid about professional football was when Joe Willy "White Shoes" Namath played with the Jets and they beat Baltimore in the Super Bowl. Namath was one of my first heroes. I remember I cried when my Daddy told me that Joe was not a Christian and was going to burn in hell forever.
My Daddy still laughs about that.

My NFL hero was always John Elway (even though I was a Bears fan.
I remember crying when the Broncos lost the Super Bowl(s) in the 80's.
Then again, I almost cried just a couple of years ago when the Cubs lost in the playoffs to the Marlins.
