My scar is bigger than your scar
from - Buck
You've gotta love the way these guys turn on each other.
As for how Murtha won the Purple Hearts, the Houston Chronicle quotes a Murtha spokesperson as saying, "We think the congressman's record is clear. We have the documentation, the paperwork that proves that he earned them, and that he is entitled to wear them proudly." Well, he may possess the documentation, but CNS reported they've never been released and the documentation of Murtha's service record is as elusive as Senator John Kerry's.
Here we go again. A military smear of the military. Do these guys not know what this kind of thing looks like to those who are outside looking in? Arguing over who got a medal when they did not deserve a medal is embarrassingly childish.
This "Purple Heart" issue is getting a little bit tiresome. My understanding is that over 200,000 Purple Hearts were issued during the course of the Vietnam war so the truth is that serving in Vietnam and not getting a Purple Heart is just about as amazing as serving and getting one.
Is it any wonder that a Purple Heart and five bucks will get you a cup of coffee at Starbucks?
The original Purple Heart award was instituted by George Washington in 1782 to reward troops for "unusual gallantry" and "extraordinary fidelity and essential service." The award was a purple cloth heart edged in silver braid, and was to be worn over the left breast of the uniform. Only three awards are known to have been issued, of which two are known to exist today.
Only three issued for the entire war against Mother England? Reckon these three guys argued over who deserved it and who didn't?
Oh, and my favorite quote from the Freeper article
According to former Marine, NYPD first-grade detective and security consultant Sid Francis, "This young guy hit those two phony patriots right between the eyes with one shot. Good for him. Murtha must have forgot that you don't piss off a Marine."
Now doesn't that just make you want to jump up, salute a flag and say the pledge?

Perusing your blog, specifically, "Tete-a-Tete" (how did you insert those diacritical marks?), I have arrived at what I believe is a defensible inference. Both you and your readers would welcome news of in-your-face overt opposition to your "smirking chimp", my "dum'ya botch".
In plainer terms, I want to run for Representative for Pennsylvania's 10th Congressional District on a platform calling for the impeachment of President George Walker Bush.
Incidentally, I deliberately referred to your blog, to indicate that I visited your blog as an individual, and not as a spammer. Yes, that last is an illustion to a "pre-deconstruction" chick flick with a rating of two and a half hankies.
Oh, alright (!) already, I'll own up to it. I owe getting my message out to so many bloggers to COPY/PASTE ... gim'me a break ... will'ya puh-lease! I got to get the word out somehow.
Ah, before you click on any of the enclosed hyperlinks, please read the entirely of my comment. For example, the three planks I nailed together in my platform out to get me elected. "impeach bush" is the first plank. The second is "impeach bush". The third is like the second, "impeach bush".
To continue, the first hyperlink below leads to the opening salvo of my campaign.

As for the second hyperlink, it leads to evidence that my candidacy is about more than opposition solely for the sake of opposition.

.he who is known as sefton
oh, by the bye, it's a good guess you'll find what I have to say in PROMETHEAN COMMENT interesting to the point of startling. In that segment, I advance the case that the mere nomination of Judge Alito is tantamount to treason.

WTF?
Murtha trades his Marine stars for political ambition. Thank God he was never my general.

m,
I think you just made Buck's point... btw, what branch are/were you in?

Smijer,
Marine Corps.
The part about Buck's point I missed is this is "a military smear of the military".
Murtha is a civilian just like you and me. He's entitled to his opinion, but his opinion is not one that most active duty marines are going to endorse. My disagreements with Murtha have nothing to do with his being a marine.
Futhermore, it looks to me that Murtha has a political agenda that is driving the rest of his commentary.

All politicians have a political agenda that drive their commentary.
Last night on Scarborough Country Joe and Tucker Carlson were giggling about the fact that Bin Laden sounded like a Democrat. They even juxtaposed a comment by Murtha with a comment made by Bin Laden. Then they wailed about how horrible it must be to have the same opinion as Bin Laden.
Well, my position is that truth is truth no matter who is telling it and if I am in a search for truth I am just as likely if not more likely to find it in a cave in Tora Bora than I am to find it at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
