Withdrawal
from - Buck
Well, this went exactly as expected.
"Withdrawal is not an option. Surrender is not a solution," declared Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist of Tennessee, who characterized Democrats as defeatists wanting to abandon Iraq before the mission is complete.
Now Richard Armitage says he believes the Iraqis will soon ask the US to leave their country.
Uh-oh. What if that newly formed Iraqi government that we are so proud of tells us to get our shit and go home.
Do you think we would? Would you think we should?

If the Iraqi gov't hopes to see the civil war end, that's the first necessary step for them... to "stand up" to the American occupier, and earn themselves legitimacy. Lot's of problems will remain, though.
We have no choice but to comply, having "transferred sovereignty" to them & all. We wouldn't think of overriding the wishes of the Iraqi people as expressed through their democratically elected government with all that freedom & all would they?

I think it's pretty clear - we leave. Is this a trick question?

At what point will you say we have left Mack. What do you think our troop levels will be after we have officially "left". 10,000? 50,000?
And if Iraq asks us to leave what will be our timetable for doing it? 90 days? 5 years?
I do not see this war as a glorious struggle for freedom and independence. I see it as a war for establishing a strong miiitary foothold in the Middle East.
If it is what I think it is then we will never leave Mack.
Not in the statistical 35 years I have left on the planet anyway.

I believe that it will be negotiated with the Iraqi government, and will fit both our needs. We still have troops in Germany, England and South Korea, but I hardly think of them as being "occupied".

I believe that it will be negotiated with the Iraqi government, and will fit both our needs. How would you define the Iraqi needs as opposed to "our" needs?

Do you see Iraq as currently being "occupied"?
